The Canadian Committee on Indoor Air Quality (CCIAQ) was pleased to contribute a segment on COVID-19 in Buildings, in a webinar hosted by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM). The October 5, 2021 presentations were to learn more about existing building recommissioning – lessons learned from experts recommissioning local facilities and steps to help ensure communities’ building systems are working together at optimal levels for comfort, safety and efficiency. The webinar was in support of the FCMCBR funding program that targets helping municipalities retrofit their community buildings, with a dedicated grant to undertake building recommissioning as a standalone initiative or as part of a broader retrofit.
Addressing COVID-19 in Buildings, including basics of infection control, transmission risk modeling, and the use of displacement ventilation, supported by infrared heating of occupants, for lower energy infection control were reviewed in this presentation.
